LOUISE MAI NEWBERRY

I am an actress from a diverse background with an eclectic CV.

Anglo-East Asian, based in London, educated at Cambridge University and trained at East 15 Acting School, I work in theatre, TV, voiceover, corporate training and more recently stand-up comedy as Precious Jade.

My work is diverse in its scope: new writing development, classical theatre, movement and physical theatre and children’s theatre.

THEATRE

I have been lucky enough to have worked at some of the UK’s foremost theatres including the RSC, Bristol Old Vic, Shakespeare’s Globe, Chichester Festival Theatre and with some of the more innovative companies including Walk The Plank, Teatro Vivo and Tall Stories.

My adventures in acting have taken me on tours of the USA, to Hong Kong and Singapore, to all the No.1 venues in Ireland with the sell-out show ‘The Gruffalo’ and I’ve even spent 6 months touring the ports of the British Isles on the UK’s only theatre ship.

 

NEW WRITING

With my background in and love of English Literature, I particularly enjoy working on new writing. I’ve workshopped and performed in rehearsed readings of new plays for the Soho Theatre, BAC, Yellow Earth, ICA, Lyric Hammersmith, Kali and Silent Shout.

I’ve workshopped and performed in rehearsed readings of new plays for the NT Studio, Soho Theatre, BAC, High Tide, Yellow Earth Theatre, ICA, Lyric Hammersmith, Kali and Silent Shout.

I regularly read for some of the UK’s foremost playwriting prizes including the Bruntwood Prize, Theatre Uncut and the Typhoon Festival (Yellow Earth Theatre).

RADIO & AUDIO

I have appeared in 3 different BBC radio dramas. I have appeared in 3 different BBC radio dramas. I played the Director of the Eastern Bloc in the Big Finish audio Dr Who – The Silurian Candidate.

I also voice several characters in the video game TOTAL WAR : Three Kingdoms

TELEVISION

On television I played one of the regulars in the BBC Worldwide series GOAL! I’ve also made appearances on The Bill and Doctors.

As a voice-over artist I have narrated several documentaries. I am the voice of Flo the Kitten on CBeebies’ Clifford’s Puppy Days.
